Doha Tower, also known as Burj Doha (previously also named Burj Qatar and Doha High Rise Office Building) is an iconic high rise tower located in West Bay, Doha, Qatar.
Doha Tower was designed by well-respected French architect Jean Nouvel. After construction of the building was completed in 2012, it was branded as Burj Doha by the owner, H. E. Sheikh Saud Bin Mohamed Al-Thani.
Doha Tower comprises 46 floors above ground level and 3 floors below ground to give a total gross floor area of approximately 110,000 m². It has no central core, leaving more internal space available to its occupants. The design is unique; the cylindrical form of the tower was decided upon for its efficiency in floor-to-window area and relative distances between offices and elevators. Additionally, the core of the building has been shifted off-center to allow more flexible floor area for the office spaces. Mashrabiya-like screens were designed to shade the building from high temperatures as well as the unsightly sand residue found on glass throughout the region. The building houses offices for businesses. On October 18, 2012, the building received the CTBUH Skyscraper Award for the Best Tall Building Worldwide.
