A sugar shack is used in the making of maple syrup. In early spring, warmer temperatures coax the sugar maple trees to turn starch back into sugar, tap holes are put into the trees and the mostly clear sap is collected in buckets. The gathered sap is boiled in a wood fired evaporator in the "Sugar Shack." Over 40 gallons of sap is needed to make 1 gallon of pure maple syrup.
Please park in the parking lot of "Fawn Creek Winery" to access the cache.
Permission to place the cache granted by Melissa of Fawn Creek Winery. We have removed the cache container from the Sugar Shack due to deteriorating conditions, if you still want to see it, walk North past the main building and you will see a log structure which was the original Sugar Shack. Please no caching after dark.
