Geocache Description:

Welcome to Belfry, Kentucky and Bottle Rock. As a child my father told me stories of how he and his buddy would climb to this rock and I remember thinking in my head as we would pass it that I would never know what it was like to stand inside the bottle rock like my daddy once did as a boy. Be sure to Four Square Check In when at the Top of the Rock !

As a grown woman, standing on the summit and looking down below I think of the times my daddy drove me past this location and looked up and told me about it. Mostly, I know that I am the strong woman that I am today because of my father. Because of him I am determined to climb whatever the mountains are that lie in front of me. Sometimes those mountains are real and sometimes they just seem like the "impossible" like the times my daddy told me about having stood inside the rock and I imaging how far up there it was and how hard it would be to get to the top of what at the time to a little girl seemed like Mount Everest !

Please be sure to pick up any trash you see along the route and help to preserve this beautiful location for generations to come. Someday, I would like to send my sons kids to this location and let them experience the same breathtaking view of the inside of the Bottle in the Rock that I got to experience today.

This is an amazing location and once you get to the top there are lots of things to explore. Please be very careful and watch you footing at all times and be aware that a fall from here would most certainly cause pain :)

Parking can be done at the Church Parking lot and you can then just walk through the road that leads behind the Parsonage House on the Hill. Be sure to look at the interesting cut of grass on the bank by the church Parking lot. (They cut it to say words) There is a cemetery just behind the house at the start of the journey that has some beautiful headstones that you may want to explore while there.

The first .20 distance is the hardest ascent so please don't go to fast and hard during that part and give up. It is worth it and we usually take our time on that part and use the nice rocks along the way to take breaks and catch our breath. The total hike is about .35 to the Bottle in the Rock and then the return so it is only a little over a Half Mile in distance but the first .20 is a pretty good incline. But again, It is one of the most stunning views of a rock formation anyplace around here so it is very much worth the hike. It took us about 2 hours to go up, explore all we wanted once there, do photos, have a picnic and return to the bottom.

Take Water, Take a friend and most importantly take your camera !!!

The cache is a blue ammo can and it is placed under a small rock shelter that lies to your left once you finish viewing the Bottle in the Rock you walk up the trail that leads to the top of the Rock and just over to your left you see a huge mossy rock that has a shelter under it large enough for a handful of cover rocks and an ammo can. Please place every rock back over the ammo can and don't leave any showing. This hint is here so that everyone can find it once there but can cover it completely back up. Kids climb to this location on a regular basis and it will for sure be muggled if you don't cover it up. And as much as I enjoyed climbing to the location, I don't think I want to do it every other week or so for maintenance :)

THIS IS MY LITTLE HOUSE. HOME IS A PLACE THAT I HAVE WORKED SO HARD TO FIND. FINALLY, I BELIEVE I UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF HOME AND FINALLY I HAVE A FAMILY TO FILL THE HOME. I HOPE YOU ENJOY DOING THESE CACHES AND THINK OF YOUR HOME AND WHAT YOU CAN DO TO MAKE IT THE HAPPIEST POSSIBLE PLACE TO BE. ~ WENDY
