11th Annual Memorial CITO

Saturday, April 25th, 2015
10:00am - 3:00pm

Getting there:
Starting from Hwy 36, go West on Lefthand Canyon for .65 miles, then head North on Geer Canyon Drive for .3 miles to CITO parking.

Heil Valley Homestead:

Come out for the annual Boulder County CITO and help clean up trash, wood, steel, and a bunch of other debris from 140 years of use! We will be cleaning up the old Heil Valley Homestead, a new additon to Boulder County land management after the Heil family moved to Meeker. Large trash includes farming equipment, wood from feed troughs, rail ties, and a wide variety of other fun (and sometimes heavy) objects. You can also expect tires, car parts, steel cables, and a wide variety of small trash.

SAFETY CONCERNS: There may be rusty nails in wood (located all over the field) and the area has broken glass and a wide variety of other sharp objects.

As the event is over the lunch hour, we will be providing lunch for all volunteers. Update 3/25/2015: I have received confirmation that we will be providing pulled pork tacos for lunch (provided by Georgia Boys BBQ).

Everyone participating at this CITO will receive a 2015 CITO souvenir for their geocaching profile! Also, we'll be hosting a FREE DRAWING as a 'Thank You' for coming out!

Weather:
Weather in mid/late April is usually warm and pleasant but can be unpredictable. Please bring sunscreen, appropriate clothing, and plenty of water.

Volunteers should bring:

Drinking water (1-2 liters per person)
Snack
Sunscreen
Work gloves (if you have them)
Hiking shoes/boots
Binoculars or camera (optional)

Boulder County will provide:
Extra large trash bags
Extra Work gloves
Extra Water
First aid kit

As a result of events like this and your participation, we have received an Award from Boulder County!

This is a Billzjeep inspired event

Who is Billzjeep?

Billzjeep began caching April 2001, logged 965 finds, had 5 hidden caches of his own, and was a recognized cacher in Colorado. He was unable to log his final finds because he passed away suddenly while geocaching with Jeeperz1&2 on March 6, 2004. Since his passing, Colorado has held a CITO event in memory of fallen cachers each year.

Past events held in his memory:
The First Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
The Second Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
3rd Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
Billzjeeps 4th Annual CITO @ Boyd Lake
BillzJeep 5th Annual CITO @Boyd Lake
6th Annual Tribute CITO; in honor of billzjeep
7th Annual Tribute CITO ~ In honor of Billzjeep
