The (Banzai) Pipeline is a reef break located in off Sunset Beach Park in Pupukea on O'ahu. A reef break is an area in the ocean where waves start to break once they reach the shallows of a reef. Pipeline is notorious for huge waves which break in shallow water just above a sharp and cavernous reef, forming large, hollow, thick curls of water that surfers can tube ride. There are three reefs at Pipeline in progressively deeper water further out to sea that activate according to the increasing size of approaching ocean swells.
There is a reef off Tranmere known as Punch's Reef which creates some interesting tide lines, but certainly not the big waves the Banzai Pipeline is known for although it does get pretty rough when the winds blow from the west. A fishing blog I read does say you can actually surf here on the winter swells.
Placed on the waterfront not far from home to partially fill in the gap that has been created in this area. There is a track along most of the Tranmere waterfront and this cache is just below the track.
