Geocache Description:

What: A fun day out
When: 12:00 - 16:00 / 12. April 2015
Were: Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick
Why: ... because Geocaching is awesome!

Active April is a State Government initiative to promote healthy and active lifestyles and get people to join in the fun of increased physical activity. As part of this initiative, the local council is running an “Active Casey” week to showcase various different outdoor activities that people in the community might like to try.

With this in mind the City of Casey, Geocaching Melbourne and the good people at Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick sat down and came up with the idea of this event.

The event is designed to bring along people who may never have heard of geocaching, but are interested in finding a way to increase the amount of physical activity that they participate in.
The council will be advertising this event to non-geocachers to encourage them to come along and learn how geocaching works.
What Geocaching Melbourne needs, is for experienced geocachers to come along to meet these interested people and show them how it is done! The idea is that little groups, lead by experienced geocachers, can find a few temporary caches just to introduce those who are interested to learn what the hobby is all about.

  • The event will run on Sunday the 12th of April from 12 (midday) to 4pm.
  • Groups will be leaving on the hour at 12, 1, 2 and 3pm.
  • There will be a number of temporary caches placed especially for the event. On the day they will guide the groups on a small walking loop around a the park.

>> We need you! So if you would like to come along and donate a bit of your time to show some newbies what this geocaching thing is all about, please indicate that you’re interested in your “Will Attend” log. Don’t worry though, you won’t be the only one leading the group around, we would hope that each group has a number of experienced geocachers to pass on their wisdom!
Or, if you are a newbie who has only just started on your geocaching journey, feel free to come along too, join in the fun and maybe get some tips and pointers to help you in the future!

... and obbviously, the main goal is for all of us - geocachers and soon to be geocachers - to get together to have a good old chin-wag too!

If you would just like to turn up and enjoy a sausage sizzle that is put on by the “Friends of Wilson’s Botanic Gardens” and have a bit of a chat, you are more than welcome to do so.
