Geocache Description:

Earth Week Cache In Trash Out Event held at Mukwonago County Park. Come join in the fun at picnic shelter #4!

All parks deserve a good old fashioned clean up every now and again. The Waukesha County Parks system prides themselves in clean parks and recreation facilities. Lets see how much dirt we can unearth and clean up! Cache In Trash Out (CITO) is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

Mukwonago County Park is a 355-acre park site includes a high ridge, formed during the last glacial period, which stretches nearly the length of the park. Park visitors of all ages will be delighted to discover the park's commanding view of the rolling terrain and farmlands typical of southeastern Wisconsin. The oak opening ridge is covered with pre-settlement vegetation including Burr Oak, Shagbark Hickory, and ground cover of prairie plants. While strolling through the Oak Savannah ridge, you may spot a Red-tailed Hawk or Turkey Vulture, a known specie to this park's habitat.

Mukwonago County parks boasts many activities such as swimming, picnicking, fishing, camping, sledding (lets hope we aren't still doing this in April!) archery, GEOCACHING, and Nature hiking. The park has Picnic areas and buildings available for rental use.

This event is to take place on Saturday April 25th from 9am - 12 noon. The schedule is as follows:

09:00 - 09:30: Check in and socialize

09:30 - 11:00: collect trash, clean park and geocache

11:00 - 12:00; socialize, win prizes and eat.

In addition to the "normal park clean up" the park representative has asked that we also collect any kindling and pull rocks out of the beach area. She may have one or two other things to do too. As the event nears we will post more specifics on food and beverages. If you would to bring something in addition please post in your "will attend" log. We have a picnic shelter reserved for everyone's use to picnic and socialize.

Please note this is a Waukesha County Park. Parking fees or a annual pass is required to park here. Last year they granted us free parking from 9 am until noon. If you extended the hours to seek out all the caches in the park there was a good chance you could have ended up with a parking ticket. I recommend taking no chances and purchasing a parking pass, so no one ends up with a parking ticket.

Here is your parking pass for the time slot. Please print it out and place as required.
