But it doesn't stay Lovely on its own! It takes a lot of effort from the Volunteers on Listowel Tidy Towns to keep it up to it's award winning standard, having won 7 Gold Medals in the national Tidy Towns competitions to date. So the aim of this event is to give them some much needed help. And the fact that you'll earn a souvenir for your profile by participating is no harm either!
Cache In Trash Out® Events
Cache In Trash Out® is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!
The 13th Annual Cache In Trash Out Weekend is scheduled for April 25 and 26, 2015.
The Event
The event itself will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 12pm and should be finished by 2pm. We will meet in front of the playground by the Listowel Community Centre car park and from there split into smaller groups, tidying up areas along the trails and walks in the vicinity, including the River Walk.
Please be extra careful with junior geocachers around the river walk. At times and in certain places the river can flow quite quickly, and deeply.
Directions:
If you are Driving, there is ample parking in and around Listowel Community Centre, and more free parking behind Listowel Castle, only a few hundred metres away.
For those relying on Public Transport, buses from Limerick and Tralee stop in the Square, and our meeting place is just a short walk down the hill to the Community Centre (you'll pass it on the bus as you enter the town).
What to Bring:
Work or garden gloves, if you have them
A litter picker, if you have one
Walking boots/hiking gear
Raingear
This event is being organised in conjunction with
Kerry County Council and
the Listowel Tidy Towns Group. Listowel Tidy Towns will very kindly provide us with litter pickers, gloves and bin bags, but if you have your own litter pickers and gloves, please bring them along.
