I 1990 vart den nye Skibergtunnelen opna. Den avløyste gamletunnelen frå 1957 og gjorde at vegstrekninga mellom Storesunde og Veslebygda vart sikra mot ras. Skibergsfjellet stuper omlag loddrett ned i Oppstrynsvatnet. Den gamle tunnelen går langs kanten av fjellet, noko som gjer at den mellom anna har eit "sidehol" eit stykke inne i tunnelen. På grunn av at vegen inn mot tunnelopninga går langs den bratte fjellsida så var den svært utsett for snø- og isras. Den nye tunnelen går lenger inni fjellet og innslaget er lenger mot vest, noko som gjer at rasproblema er borte. I dag vert gamletunnelen brukt som turveg. Det er ei spennande strekning både for gåande og syklande. Sjølv om vegen enkelte stader er i ferd med å gro igjen så er det trygt å ferdast på sommarstid og asfalten er for det meste inntakt. Cachen kan nåast frå begge endar av tunnelen, men det er enklast å parkere ved starten av gamlevegen på vestsida. Ved cachen er det relativt dårleg GPS-tilhøve. Det er ikkje naudsynt å ha med lommelykt på dagtid. Husk å ta med eige skriveverktøy.

The new Skiberg tunnel was opened in 1990. It replaced the old tunnel from 1957 and made the road between Storesunde and Veslebygda safe from avalanches. The Skiberg cliff drops vertically into Oppstryn lake. The old tunnel runs along the edge of the cliff which results in a purposly made hole in the side of the tunnel. The tunnel was very suceptible to snow and ice avalanches because of the tunnel opening being in the middle of the dangerous part of the cliff. The new tunnel runs deeper inside the mountain and the openings at both ends are further away from the steep cliff. Today the old tunnel is used as an exciting walking and biking trail. It is safe to use in the summer time. Nature is slowly reclaiming the road, but the surface is still intact and comfortable. The cache can be reached from both ends of the tunnel, but it is easiest to park at the western end of the old road. The GPS conditions are quite bad at the cache site. You don't need a flashlight during the day. Remember to bring your own pen.
