Come join us again in New Westminster's Port Royal Park for a day of Frosty Fun, Frolic, and Festivities.
Once again, geo-athletes from all over the Lower Mainland (and beyond) will meet in New Westminster to demonstrate their physical prowess, their mental skills, and their ability to work as a TEAM to meet the challenges that winter caching presents.
In order to recoup the costs for the venue and some of the materials, we are asking for donations (suggested: $5 per person or $10 per family.) Any money we get in excess of our costs will be put toward future events.
This is a full day event, running from 10 a.m. to about 3 p.m. Metro Van Geocaching will provide a drink and snack for everyone, but please bring your own picnic lunch. There is a picnic shelter with tables for about 45 and we're expecting 70 or more so bring a lawn chair too if you can.
While the venue is perfect for the games themselves, parking is at a premium so we encourage you to carpool if at all possible. (And watch out for that hidden fire hydrant if you do park close by.)
Athlete Registration (a.k.a. sign-in) begins at 10:00. Opening Ceremonies start at 10:30, with special guests from the Caching in the Northwest Podcast lighting the cauldron. The games are for geo-athletes of all ages!
Expect: a snowball fight
winter-themed relays
snowman building (a judged event-- if you have accessories you think might add to your snowman's style, be sure to bring them)
Winter Team Puzzle Challenge (No one will be tied together. Really!)
Geocachers' Biathlon
There is also a special series of puzzle caches geared to the young geocachers (and the young at heart ) who attend, with additional souvenir prizes.
Please post your *Will Attend* by July 4 so that we will be able to judge the number of snacks and medals we will need.
