Geocache Description:

Nightmare in the Monkey Trails

Johnny Cache is the infamous and legendary outlaw beaver from Dauphin.   He is wanted by the local sheriff for stealing treasures from geocaches all over the valley.  Rumour has it that Johnny has fled to his super top secret hideout inside the haunted woods Monkey Trails in Vermillion Park.  We need brave geocachers to join a posse that is heading up there to seek out Johnny Cache and bring him to justice.

The haunted woods are located on the scenic grounds of Vermillion Park.   The first posse will head out at 10:30pm and each posse after that will follow at set increments until atleast 12:01am.  To take part in this night event you must pick up a time card from the "GC5T3EE The Ring of Fire" event.

Important Information

Due to the expected number of attendees we ask that you please follow these instructions. Parking is limited at Vermillion Park. There is no other public parking available inside Vermillion Park besides the parking lot at the entrance. Additional parking is available a block away as well as parking on nearby streets. Check the additional waypoints for those locations. Please don't come out to the trail head more than 10 minutes before your start time. If you come earlier be prepared to wait until it's your turn. We will do our best to keep things running in a timely manner. The night trail should take roughly 20-25 minutes to complete.

The Fire Tacks used on the trail are retro-reflective, which means the light they reflect is easiest to see when the source of the light, your flashlight or headlamp, are held at eye level; so, in order to properly see the reflectors, bring a good light and hold it at eye level or wear a good headlamp. Look around for a reflection in the trees somewhere.

Caution is advised at all time. Our team will do its best to ensure the trail is clear of debris. It's a well groomed trail with a section that will be off the trail on a packed path. Be prepared for some uneven terrain and a few small slopes.

When you complete the trail you will have exclusive access to a yet to be published cache. You can sign the logbook and will be given the GC Code so you can log it once it is published.

What to bring

Good flashlight or headlamp, warm clothing, sturdy footwear and bug spray. Water is also a good idea.
