Facing your FEARS with Barasaur #6

Date: Sunday, August 30th 2015
Time:12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
Place:TOP of Horsetooth Rock

I am planning to head out from the parking lot at around 10am to make it to the top of Horsetooth by Noon. Get there anyway you can but event is on the north side of the tooth on top.

I have decided to put on an event around different kinds of Phobia's This is in no way meant to minimize anyone afflicted with any such phobia but meant for a way to acknowledge, and learn about them.

This event covers

Aeroacrophobia: is also known as an abnormal fear of open high places. Symptoms for this phobia often include excessive perspiration, dyspnea, jolt, sick feeling, incapacity to speak and think clearly, heart palpitations, fear of death, losing order or feeling insane, a full attack of puffed up concern and a feeling of detachment to reality.

Bathmophobia: or fear of slopes or stairs, is a somewhat complicated phobia. It is quite similar to climacophobia, or fear of climbing stairs, except in its specific focus. In bathmophobia, the sufferer may panic when simply observing a steep slope, while those with climacophobia typically experience symptoms only when expected to actually climb or descend. The difference is subtle but important, and can only be accurately diagnosed by a trained clinician.

Acrophobia: is defined as a fear of heights. Unlike a specific phobia like aerophobia -- fear of flying -- and other specific phobias, acrophobia can cause a person to fear a variety of things related to being far from the ground. Depending on the phobia's severity, an acrophobic person may equally fear being on a high floor of a building or simply climbing a ladder.

Altophobia: or the fear of germs, refers to an unhealthy fear of contamination. It is normal and prudent to be concerned about issues such as cross-contamination of foods, exposure to the bodily fluids of others and maintaining good hygiene. However, if you suffer from mysophobia, these normal concerns become overblown. The phobia is common, affecting even celebrities such as Howie Mandel.

Climacophobia: is related to bathmophobia, except that the fear generally occurs only when contemplating making a climb. If you suffer from climacophobia, you are probably not afraid to see a steep set of stairs as long as you can remain safely at the bottom. However, climacophobia may occur in tandem with acrophobia.
