This cache is one of many that traces the Waukegan River. This river crosses Waukegan from the north all the way to the lake and runs through various parks, under streets, and through the network of ravines in the area. Over the years, the river has fallen into disrepair and currently there has been a volunteer effort to cleanup the river. Through this and continuing efforts, the health of the river has slowly returned. This lead to the slow return of wildlife, the purification of the water, and most recently, the discovery of artifacts and markings detailing an obscure and mysterious ancient community known colloquially as the Waukegan River people.
