A steep ravine covered with oak, ash and larch woodland that has remained relatively undisturbed for centuries. One of the most important ancient woodlands in Ayrshire for invertebrates, plants, bats and fungi.
We have placed a series of four caches, each of them at ground level, placed by a child so they are easy for other children to find, little should need to be disturbed to find them, just the natural camoflage we have used, bark, sticks. Each of them is within two steps of the pavement and will not require you to trample anything. Though in a few more months when stuff grows you may have to gently move aside greenery.
The start of the walk has a fairly steep flight of steps taking you up above the river. We have kept the caches to the short walk that is shown on the sign. and from the Failford Inn Car Park is a walk of approx 2 miles
You can read about the exploits here http://www.funasagran.co.uk/2015/06/placing-geocaches-as-part-of-cub-badge.html Congrats on FTF go to Ayrshirelass
