As many of you know, Joe Armstrong, better known as JoGPS, passed away quietly at his home on June 1, 2015. Joe's contributions to Geocaching and this community are so numerous that it becomes difficult to even acknowledge them all, much less to do justice to them, but we are going to try. The MTGC has secured Joe's favorite pavilion at Nashville's Warner Park to host a tribute to "Da Man", our own JoGPS on July 18th, 2015.
This will be a laid-back event, in true Joe style. Bring a covered dish to share or a picnic for yourself, whatever floats "da boat". I know for sure that there will be pie! We will try to eat around 1PM, there may be a little speechifying, but mostly this is just a chance for us all to get together to celebrate the life of a man, who spent his life giving back to others.
We hope that you can all join us in the shelter where Joe hosted GeoWoodstock II as we take the day to reflect on all of the good times that Joe made possible for us, as a cache hider, a Groundspeak Volunteer, an advocate for this community and most of all as a friend. Come on out, bring your pictures and stories as we celebrate "A Life Too Cool".
"It's about the number of friends you make. The number of smiles you get, while you are just walking around; it's all about just having a good time." - Joe Armstrong
