This is a travel bug race of sorts but there are many different ways to win this "race" - hence the name of this event. This is not a race to a particular location but a battle for travel bug supremacy. All participating travel bugs must be launched from the event. Once launched, the bugs will battle for one full year. Like last year, we will track their progress as they race toward one or more of the many goals that will earn their owner a prize. Like geocaching, this race will be on the honor system. Don't move your own racer or do other such unseemly things.
Standard Categories for the 2015 race are as follows:
- The travel bug located furthest from GZ at the end of the race
- The travel bug with the most miles at the end of the race
- First travel bug to go outside the country
- The travel bug that has been in the most states
- The travelbug that has visited the most countries
- The travelbug that has visited the most events
- The first travel bug to go MIA (must be MIA missing at least 3 months)
- Highest and Lowest Elevation
We will announce the results of the 1st Annual Battle of the Bugs during this event. Prizes will be awarded accordingly.
This is a potluck style event. The most important thing you will need to bring is your travelbug which will be launched shortly after the event. We will post regular progress updates and continue to publish the Travel Bug Times monthly. We will also give updates at geocaching events and through our family geocaching blog.
We will have a few travel bugs for sale (at cost) for those of you that decide last minute that you want to enter. There are no late entries. All travel bugs should be new and launched originally from this event.

Start time: 12:00 pm
End Time: 3:00 pm
Q: How many bugs can I release?
A: You can release as many bugs as you want however to keep it fair for everyone only one bug will be tracked per person. So, a family of four could have four in the race. We want to keep it fun and not have someone release 20 bugs for one person.
Q: Can I only release a "travel bug"?
A: No, while this is the Battle of the Bugs, you can enter any type of trackable into the race.
Q: Does the trackable need to be new?
A: Yes. The trackable needs to be new. Additionally, it should be dropped for the first time into the event. We will then take them all to the LoDo TB & Geocoin Hotel to be sent on their way.
Q: Can I move my own racer?
A: No. Don't move your own racer or have your cacher buddies move them. Let's play this game as honestly as we can. Any cheater will be publicly shamed!
