With apologies to all who remember this song from summer camp experiences. Sing along as you take the opportunity to explore some of the small beaches on Slocan Lake. This is really an Ontario song (IMHO) and the words could be adjusted to Land of the conifers, home to many loggers.
Land of the Silver Birch, Home of the beaver, Where still the mighty moose Wanders at will.
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return once more. Boom-diddy-ah-dah, Boo-ooo-ooo-oom.
High on a rocky ledge, I'll set my wigwam, Close to the water's edge, Silent and still.
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return once more. Boom-diddy-ah-dah, Boo-ooo-ooo-oom.
Boom-diddy-ah-dah Booms were used to move logs from several points on the lake to the mill at Slocan. The booms haven't been used for several years now but you can still see old boom logs where they washed up on shore. There is one here that landed after a storm or spring high water.
