OAHT 1520: The Supper Club Era
Supper clubs became popular during the 1950s and 1960s, although some establishments that later became supper clubs had previously gained notoriety as prohibition roadhouses. It has been rumored that the original building located at this area, first a tavern, was used as a prohibition roadhouse.
In 1947, Bob Chuck along with his parents, Charles and Jessie Chuck bought the tavern at this location. Through the years the tavern expanded and became well-known as Chuck’s Supper Club. During that time there were 2 fires and each time Bob Chuck rebuilt it. Chuck’s Supper Club was known for the best prime rib in the Lake Country area. The Supper Club had been the centerpiece of life for three generations of family. It was sold in 1994. Through the years it changed owners and today when entering the current restaurant, you still get the feel of the old Supper Club.
