OAHT 1523: Marks Farm
This Geocache WAS part of the Oconomowoc Area Historical Tour:
At one time the land all around this Geocache location was once a popular fixture in the Oconomowoc area, Marks Farm. It started out as a dairy farm in the late 1800’s. The land was rich and perfect for growing corn, tomatoes and melons. The beginnings were humble. In the 1970’s the children sold sweet corn from a roadside picnic table.
Through the years the family built the front of the market to sell fresh produce, jams and other gift items. The late 1980’s the back portion of the barn was converted to the ice cream parlor, bakery and kitchen. The 1990’s there was a petting zoo and gift shop. It was a great place to bring your family to see the farm animals, pick your favorite pumpkin, buy your favorite fresh fruit & vegetables and take a hayride. At one time there was 300 acres of produce, pumpkin patch and family fun.
Most of the acres of Marks Farm were sold around 2006 and the property was subdivided. Check out the names of the streets in the nearby neighborhood.
