The easiest way to access the cache is to park half way down Glenesk Road and take the Maungaroa Lookout Track. Part way along the track there is an unmarked track to the right, which leads up to Kitenui Lookout and the cache. See the additional waypoints for parking and the trailhead.
Alternatively the lookout can also be reached from the other end of Maungaroa Lookout Track, which starts from the Nikau Grove Walk at the end of Garden Road. This is a slightly longer, but more interesting walk, however it does involve a couple of stream crossings and some steeper sections.
You are looking for a large black plastic container, containing a geocaching logbook, letterboxing logbook, letterboxing stamps, a pen and some swaps. Please do not remove the stamps from the cache!
Geocaching
There is a logbook clearly marked for geocaching, which geocachers should sign.
Letterboxing
There is a second logbook clearly marked for letterboxing, together with a couple of stamps. Letterboxers should stamp this logbook with their stamp.
