Geocache Description:

Cache is located outside of the Spring Branch Cemetery - No need to enter, but you are free to look around.

There was once another geocache hidden near this location. The cache was lost, never to be found... or was it?

Smithson Valley Cemetery is the final resting place for many of the German immigrants who settled in this area. The cemetery was founded in 1876. You can read the history of this cemetery on the Historic Texas Cemetery marker near the entrance... but there is another, less known story.

That story is about a German immigrant only known as Alexander. He was not very well known to the local settlers as he was somewhat of a hermit. However, the settlers knew Alexander as a great warrior and hero. He was often seen defending the settlers from Comanche raids. This cemetery is said to have been established were Alexander was burried.

It was only in his after-life that Alexander decided to try to join the community he so heroically defended... perhaps along the way he may have found something....
