8th Plague of Egypt - Locusts Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Rib Ticklers: And So It Ends. What was once glorious is now but a shadowed memory. A once was. An historical footnote in the annals of Geocaching, and a sad tribute to the reality of large Urban caches.

The loss of my giant Locust is a bitter blow to the integrity of the plague series. This was my first, and perhaps my best plague cache. I have had to repair the containers several times, but now that the Locust is gone there's nothing for it but to Archive this and move on.

I'd like to thank everyone for the wonderful comments over the last couple years. I'm glad I could bring you Joy.

Thanks for the logs.

Geocache Description:

The Eighth Plague of Egypt: Locusts (אַרְבֶּה): Ex. 10:1–20

10:4 Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:

10:5 And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field.

This is the eighth of ten caches placed in or around Wausau area.  There are cache series in the area for the Seven Dwarves, the Packers, the Wizard of Oz - why not Plagues?

A short, steep climb within easy walking distance of your parking area (Best access to Parking Waypoint - N 44° 57.783 W 089° 39.489 is from Trigs Grocery) will bring you to a very large container, very easy to locate.  If you're coming here, bring "the big stuff" to trade.  Your average cache container would be swallowed whole inside this monster. In fact - we occasionally sprinkle cache containers inside as SWAG, if you can find them.

This container is being placed in winter time, so it will be basically 'out in the open'.  As summer comes around, it will likely be buried in grass and (if we're lucky) locusts.  (Maybe that all depends on the 'hardness of our hearts'.  smiley)

Permission to place this cache was given by Bill Zeck, Assistant Manager of Trig's Grocery Store.
