First Ever S.W.A.G.E. Meet and Greet Event! Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Chuck Walla: Geocaching HQ has notified me that they have a concern with the content of this event listing which violates this section of the guidelines -- Geocaches do not solicit for any purpose. This applies to all listings, including events.

Because your listing has been used as the model for another event which violated this section of the guidelines and was archived by HG, this one is being archived now so that others do not make the same mistake.

Sincerely,

Geocache Description:

Join us for the first ever S.W.A.G.E. Meet and Greet event!

Sometimes S.W.A.G.. members attend C.A.G.E. events and sometimes C.A.G.E. members attend S.W.A.G.. events.  We figured why not get these two great central Arkansas groups together for a joint event?  Please join us on Saturday, February 20th, from 11am -1pm at the Western Sizzlin, 1916 Congo Road in Benton.  We will meet in the room on your left after you enter the restaurant.  You do not have to purchase anything to attend this event, but please do not bring in outside food unless you are on a special diet. All geocachers (and their muggle friends!) are welcome to attend regardless if you are a member of C.A.G.E or S.W.A.G..

As part of this event, we are offering the opportunity to participate in a community project. Participation in this community project is completely voluntary and not a requirement to attend this event.

Potluck, Arkansas’ only food rescue organization, has been committed to reducing hunger and improving nutrition among at-risk Arkansans since its inception in 1989. The organization rescues a wide variety of food from restaurants, hospitals, caterers, farmers, farmer’s markets, corporate cafeterias, specialty food stores, bakeries, dairies, schools, wholesalers and more.

Food is distributed free of charge to a broad, diverse and rapidly growing network of nonprofit community food programs that include: KIDS’ PANTRY sites serving children at-risk, soup kitchens, day centers for seniors and veterans, homeless shelters, women’s emergency shelters and food pantries.

Some of the items they need to supplement their rescued food are:

Jars of peanut butter

Small boxes of breakfast cereal, individual serving size

Macaroni and cheese

Canned meats, i.e., chicken or tuna

Of course, any donation of non-perishable food is appreciated. If you don't want to shop, we'll also accept monetary donations and we'll do the shopping for you!

Again, participation in this project is completely voluntary and not a requirement for the event.
