Geocache Description:

We decided to start placing some caches in this area as it is a place where we love to spend as much time as possible, camping, exploring and relaxing, but a place not a lot of people visit.

We really wanted to share it with you, and have made the caches fairly easily found, as we didn't want to bring you all the way out here and have to go home empty 'cache' handed!

The central highlands can be a moody, foreboding place in inclement weather so please take care and prepare for any type of weather, you never know what you'll get..just another thing we love about this place! We hope enjoy. laugh

All the lakes these caches will take you to are man-made, or natural water catchments dammed to increase their size and it is where the electricity that powers the state is created. We hope to highlight it's course through visits to various lakes and canal systems and show these Hydro created areas can indeed also be lovely places.  It is a beautiful area, which has some amazing wildlife. We have seen Wedge Tailed Eagles, Sea Eagles, various other raptors, Devils, both species of Quolls, Wombats, all varieties of wallabies/pademelons etc, Echidnas and of course snakes and lizards, oh and even deer to name a few, not to mention the various coveted fish species lurking in the lakes.

Thanks to HEC Tasmania and Forestry this area is a labyrinth to explore and enjoy.  I hope you see the beauty in it as we do, I am an artist (willberech) and these lakes have been my muse for many years, there are hidden gems everywhere waiting to be discovered, and beauty wherever you turn your eye. Unfortunately, of late we have noticed some inconsiderate visitors have been leaving rubbish in their wake, so please be respectful of the environment and bring a bag wink

The Brady's Chain is a system of 4 lakes (Bronte, Brady's, Binney and Tungatinah) which are connected and directed toward Tungatinah Power station through a series of canals. This cache is placed at the first canal which connects Bronte Lagoon to Brady's Lake. There are lovely free campsites all around this location and great fishing in Brady's Lake. Please be cautious when the canal is running at high levels as it can be dangerous.
