This cache is located within Clyde Cameron Reserve, a green oasis amongst the houses of Wodonga.
Over the past few of years, a huge collaborative community effort has been involved in clearing the weeds along this section of House Creek and planting native understory. This is part of the Biolinks Project managed by the Wodonga Urban Landcare Network and the Clyde Cameron Reserve community group, which aims to create a corridor of biodiverse habitat along the the creek. Students from a local school have been undertaking weekly working bees and staff from the council and local businesses have also participated in planting days. A Green Army team have also contributed to the project.
Be sure to admire the HUGE red gums here too - some are estimated to be up to 500 years old! They provide habitat for possums, gliders, bats and birds. The shrubs that have been planted below will provide food and shelter for smaller species of birds, as well as many ground-dwelling critters.
Thanks to the efforts of so many locals, this spot is now a beautiful place for a peaceful stroll. Enjoy!
FTF: Congratulations sniffadogz!
