Geocache Description:

A "Grand Adventure Tour" across Central Texas. I hope it will bring you to places you've not yet found, and that you will want to return, explore, and plant more caches!

This is a little different sort of multi-cache. It consists of 10 locations dispersed throughout Austin and Central Texas. The first redirector, at the location listed above, will contain the coordinates to the second redirector AND another set of latitude and longitude values. You must record these values as well. At each of the subsequent locations you will receive the coordinates to the next location, plus an extra set of coordinates, until you have found the first 5 locations. At this time you will have 5 additional latitudes and 5 additional longitudes. The problem is that the latitudes and longitudes that were paired in each container most likely do not belong together. Now you will need to pair up the 5 latitudes and 5 longitudes to find the remaining 5 locations. It's up to you how to do it, using the resources available to you as an explorer, a hiker, and a geocacher.

All 10 locations are in public access locations within 200 feet of a trail!! If the coordinates you assemble put you in Lake Travis, they probably don’t go together. If the coordinates you assemble put you in the living room of the Governor’s mansion, they probably don’t go together. If the coordinates you assemble put you in private property, or require you to cross private property in any way, they probably don’t go together. If the coordinates you assemble put you within 40 feet of a “No motorized vehicles” sign, they probably don’t go together. Here is a grid page you can print off to write down the redirector and descramble coordinates: coordinate grid

I have listed both the difficulty and the terrain as 3’s because no special equipment is required besides your car. Here is a little more detail on this.
Difficulty: Most of the cache locations are fairly well concealed. The first 5 redirectors are short hikes, but since you are looking for a 35 mm film canister, you will need to be observant. I believe all are in locations where one feature of the area stands out from the rest, so I would focus my attention there. I will add hints as I get feedback from searchers. At the remaining locations, the containers are a little larger, as you can tell by the picture, so I hid them a little better (They may not be exactly what you see if any of them have been ransacked, but they will be along the line of what you see in the picture.).

Terrain: There are several challenging hills to climb in the process of finding the cache. The longest distance I hiked to any one location was 2 miles round trip. This also had the largest altitude change, 289 feet over .9 miles. Most of this was gentle slope but there were some steeper portions. Beyond that most hikes were under .6 miles round trip. One area along a creek may require you to climb up some rocks, but the height is only about 4 feet.

This cache may take a while to complete, feel free to log your progress as you go, but do not include any hints or spoilers and do not give away any locations. Please allow everyone to enjoy (or not) the complete challenge. I have been to all of the non cache locations created by the incorrect pairing of coordinates. If you go to a location and it appears to be incorrect, please email me the coordinates you used and what you found at that location. This will save me having to go to all of them.

Because this is likely to be a difficult cache to finish, we have included a special prize for the first finder.

In the process of placing this cache, I have seen Deer, two separate flocks of Turkey, Ducks, Geese, Opossum, Armadillo, Goats, Butterflies, Lizards, a Tarantula, (NOT close to any cache location) and a host of other native plants, insects, and animals, not to mention the incredible images of Central Texas. I hope you enjoy finding this cache as much as I enjoyed putting it out.
