A tranquil walk along Bear Creek Nature Trail in Tuscawilla.
Tuscawilla is the largest residential development northeast of Orlando, Florida. This development represents more than a third of the population of our host municipality, the City of Winter Springs. Since the early seventies when the first homes were built, growth has been steady. Tuscawilla’s 3,500 acres are almost all developed and are comprised of almost 5,000 families, with parks, playgrounds, offices, nearby schools and shopping and other amenities.
Some parts of Tuscawilla are still undeveloped, set aside as protected wetland preserves. This cache is located in the beautiful Bear Creek wetlands. Walking along this tranquil well kept trail is like stepping back in time. You will get a feeling what Florida was like many years ago.
You can park your car at the trailhead, in a small parking area. This is located along Winter Springs Blvd., 1.5 miles east of the intersection of Tuscawilla Road and Winter Springs Blvd. Look for the brown sign ‘Bear Creek Nature Trail’.
Update: Since the hurricanes, one of the bridges is damaged. It is still passable, but more 'fun'! I've upgraded the terrain rating to a 3 until the bridge is fixed.
