On the northern bank of the Yangtze River in China lies the city of
FengDu. It is known as both the 'Ghost City' and as the capital of
the underworld. Interesting landmarks here have names like the
River of Blood, the Ghost Torturing Pass and the Tower of the Last
Glance Home.
The temple on the hill in FengDu has many displays of the
Chinese people's view of Hell including numerous statues of wild
demons.
Head to the coordinates and find the demon noted in the picture
below. He is gnawing on something pretty horrific. Email me and
tell me what he's eating and you may log the cache. NOTE: As of
February 1, 2008, there is an additional requirement for the
logging of this cache -- you must post a picture of yourself with
your GPS in your hand at one of the other demons in the area.
An interesting note: FengDu, a city of more than 750,000 people,
will be almost totally submerged by June 2003 due to the rising
waters of the Yangtze River caused by the Three Gorges Dam Project.
By virtue of its hilltop location, the FengDu Temple will survive
and become beachfront property!
An admission fee is required to enter the grounds of the Ghost
City.
