Howdy folks. Here's a cowboy Geocaching tale out of the old
west.
The Sandy Creek cowboys saddled up on Shalla, Khirla, and Happy
to bushwhack from La Posta Truck Trail westward to Kitchen Creek
Road. There they joined the PCT riding southward past Kitchen
Creek: Monteverde 2 cache. From that cache the cowboy cache was
placed about halfway toward I-8 freeway.
The ride was perfect ... wild flowers and Yucca in bloom,
rushing water along Kitchen Creek, critters and birds flashing
about, and a clear-blue western sky. In short, the wide open spaces
of San Diego County. Ain't it purty?
The cowboy cache was placed in a natural hidey hole amongst
boulders that are situated at an overlook above I-8 freeway. Look
for a good footpath leading from the PCT to the overlook. When you
start stepping in piles of horse-apples ... you are getting very
near the cache. Carpenter from Hell actually packed in thirty
pounds of horse turds to mark the site, now gone away.
The cache is a length of capped and painted 4-inch PVC pipe. Its
filled with goodies rounded up at the ranch.
Sorry we can't be there with the chuck wagon when you score this
cache. Y'all come right away while the flowers are in bloom and
then push on up to Monteverde 2 to see the rushing water of Kitchen
Creek.
Don't be messin' with th' snakes ... just poke around with a
stick before reaching into close places.
Y'all be shore t' enjoy th' cache, y' hear?
Happy trails,
Carpenter from Hell, DennisB, and Harmon of SD Rowdies
