This is a small cache in the Walden Woods of Concord. You will have to use your geometric skills to find it. Parking is near the given coordinates off of Route 126. There is a trail map available free of charge at the visitors center store. There are 2 points of interest, one of which is at the given coordinates, where there is a replica of Thoreau’s original cabin. The other is at ( N 42 26.523 , W 71 20.547 ) where the original cabin was once located.

These 2 Thoreau cabin coordinates are 647 meters apart. The cache is located on the perpendicular bisector of the line segment joining these 2 points. The cache is 752 meters from each cabin location thus forming an isosceles triangle with the cabin points. It may also be helpful to know that the bearing to the cache from the pond along the perpendicular bisector toward the cache is about 195 degrees true.
There is a $5.00 parking fee during the regular season if you are using the Walden Lot. If you are a senior, you can get a free pass at the gift shop. Other parking may be found on some of the backroads on the other side of the railroad tracks not too far away from the cache location.
The cache is in a large coffee can next to an 8 inch log near a 16 inch oak. It’s covered over with a small piece of plywood and some leaves and branches.
