Top of the World, Baby!! Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

tomslusher: Sorry, but this one is gonna be archived. It was good while it lasted and that was about two and a half years. I retrieved what was left of my first cache. The area is open for someone else to use. It's a good area, have at it.

thanks, tomslusher

Geocache Description:

Top Of The World, Baby!!..
Or at least top of LeSueur County

You should be aware and understand that this cache is in Dove Lake State Wildlife Management Area (WMA) where hunting is allowed. The open field/grassy area below the hill is used for pheasant hunting. There may be some turkey hunters in the morning during springtime too. As a last bit of advice, I won't go anywhere near a woods during deer season, even my own . Lots of responsible hunters out there, but also too many that never pick up a gun except during deer season, which is usually the first two weekends in November.

You would be very well advised to wear something orange like a vest or jacket during the pheasant season, which is from mid October through mid December.

This cache is up on Klondike Hill, LeSueur County, Minnesota's highest point. I already claimed it on "'H' is for Highpoint" so don't bother. Local rumors tell a story of the Jesse James gang (or what was left of them) hiding out on this hill after the Great Northfield Bank Robbery as it was the highest hill in the area and they could see their pursuers coming after them.

The cache is in a green ammo can. Inside you should find a camera to take your picture or a picture of some wildlife you spot or just the great view. Please place it back in cache so I can get them developed and posted online. Also you will find a bunch of old grocery bags to pick up trash with on the way out if you so choose. Watch out for the prickly bushes and wild raspberries (they should be good eating come summer)!!

Click here for a page with 25 photos from the camera I put in the cache.  Can you give me any names of the cachers?
