Past Tyee Rapid, a class 4 whitewater rapid, on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River.
This is another cache to commemorate our first whitewater raft trip of the year, combining two fun hobbies, rafting and caching. The cache can be accessed by both rafters and hikers. It's 4.5 river miles from Grave Creek Boat Ramp and the beginning of the Rogue River Trail. If starting from Foster Bar, the cache will be near the end of your several day hike.
The 5 rating is because permits are required to float this section of the river from May 15-Oct 15 and whitewater rafting equipment is required. Whitewater rafting experience would definitely be a plus! The hike can be strenuous and remember to bring water. The trail is usually very well maintained. **CAUTION: Watch for rattlesnakes and bears - look in rock crevices BEFORE putting your hands in there.
