The ODDiTies Reloaded Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Summitt Dweller: Too much wind damage in this particular location to reliably replace this cache. I'm going to archive it and hope to look for a new location (and new container) this summer.

Geocache Description:

...aka 'A Stroll In The Park'

"ODDiTies at the TCDGC" was a big hit in 2002 but it went AWOL in 2003 so I've replaced it with a new cache. The approach is the same but the cache location, container and formula are different of course. Also, there is now a 2nd means of finding the final coordinates without any math! If you solved the original ODDiTies (and remember the solution) then you won't have to walk as far collecting info for the new cache coordinates. Enjoy.

Are you tired of trekking up hill and down, through dense forests and weeds so tall they obscure your GPS signal? Are you longing to wear shorts in the summer heat without fear of long-term disability due to rash? Do you want to feel the breeze in your face without having to climb a tree or scale a bluff?

Well, this all-season cache is for you...but there's catch. You'll have to visit 5 waypoints before you can locate the cache...and I'm only going to give you the coordinates of 4 waypoints. You must find the 5th on your own. Sure, it's an odd way to place a cache but it should not be too difficult to solve this puzzle and all the waypoints are in the same small city park.

I walked about 1/2 mile to mark the waypoints and place the cache...but I knew exactly where I was headed at all times. Your mileage may vary. Not to fear, the terrain is pretty flat, open and generally well-mowed. There are even some seats along the way if you need a break... or bring a lunch and 'dine out'. There's even a playground where the kids can play. The whole affair should take only about 20-30 minutes to complete.

If you find waypoints A thru D in order you should have no trouble locating the final, key waypoint and then the cache. Along the way you'll need to record a series of five 3-digit numbers, A thru E, one from each waypoint. All of the waypoints are the same except for their location and the information they present. Once you know what you're looking for the waypoints are not hard to find...even without a GPS.

Waypoint A is at N 41 59.680', W 092 35.688' (The posted coordinates)
Waypoint B is at N 41 59.733', W 092 35.736'
Waypoint C is at N 41 59.766', W 092 35.773'
Waypoint D is at N 41 59.678', W 092 35.772'

Waypoint E is... for you to find.

There are now 2 ways to obtain the final coordinate!
You can either do the math (as shown below) OR you can look on the object at Waypoint E for a clue that will lead you straight to the cache!

The cache is located at N 41 59.xxx, W 092 35.yyy, where:

xxx = E + A + (B/5) + ((C/2) + 5)/5
yyy = (D*2) - (E/5) - (A/40)

You are likely to find some non-cacher's in the park at just about any time (using the seats, picnic tables, playground or other facilities) so please be discrete when you locate the cache. The object you seek is now a regular sized green/black ammo box and there is between 20' to 50' of bushwhacking involved.
