Geocache Description:

A survey cap with a most spectacular view of the Columbia Icefields.

This cache is a survey marker (brass cap) located on the south ridge of Mt. Wilcox, behind the Icefields Visitors Centre. From this location, you are rewarded with a spectacular view of the Athabasca Glacier and the surrounding peaks; a view much better than the ones from the road.

The cap can be reached after about an hour's worth up uphill hiking, either from behind the Visitors Centre or via the Wilcox Pass trail. Once you are above treeline, there are many places to explore. The summit of Mt. Wilcox is about 2km further north, but it is a moderate scramble recommended for experienced scramblers only.

To log this cache, email me with the four words and one number located on the marker. Bonus karma points if you post a picture of your party with the icefields behind you.

There is another Brass Cap from outforthehunt's Brass Cap Cache a mere 970m further north. Be sure to bag that one too.
