Geocache Description:

.42 miles as the crow flies down the blue dot trail to the first of 2 caches. Park at N35 49.451 W106 11.070. Probably closer to 3/4 mi actual walking distance because of switchbacks. Over 600 feet change in elevation.

The first cache consists of a small yellow plastic container which contains the coordinates that will lead you to the treasure. When you get near, your GPS may go a little crazy, as there are many rocks and large boulders which seem to affect accuracy somewhat. The cache is at the base of a juniper. It is not visible from the direction that you will be approaching from. So walk around the junipers until you find it. The main cache is about .86 miles further. You will be looking for a large blue Rubbermaid container. If you keep your eyes open, you will be able to walk a trail all the way to the cache. In a couple of places where the trail is dim, cast your eyes several yards ahead and you should be able to pick the trail up again. Also, turns are marked in some places with an arrow made of rocks. Take plenty of water for man and beast, as this is a dry, hot, but interesting and beautiful area. There are rattlers in the area, although you will seldom see one. So keep your eyes open. Watch out for cholla and prickly pear cactus as well. If you have small children with you, you may want to put them in long pants, as the trail goes through sage brush flats in a couple of places and it can be quite scratchy on tender legs. Coming back out again, the switchbacks make the hike out much easier than it would otherwise be. It is rated at 4 stars for difficulty because of distance and the change in elevation. Just take your time, take frequent rests if necessary and help the children to see the beauty that is all around them.

The cache contains: Louis L'Amour Book, Dorcy Frost Brite flashlight, Yu-Gi-Oh! keychain, Matchbox Sea Spider Boat, Leathercraft Quick kits Mystery Braid Wristbands, Fing'rs 4 way Nail Grinder, Ozark Trail Retractable Clothesline Reel, 6x4in metal picture frame, Pkg of 10 hair barrettes, Ozark Trail mini biner, Pkg of 16 Goody hairclips, Miniature oil lamp, Silverlake Whammy Tail Spinner Fishing Lure, Plastic Magnetic Key Case, Magnesium Fire Starter, Rubbermaid Blue Ice, Sally Hansen Chrome Nail Polish, Beener Keychain flashlight, Time in a TOOBZ watch, Winchester 12 tool Swiss style pocket knife, Renegade Finesse Vibe Firetiger fishing lure, 16 piece Hex Key Set SAE/METRIC, Mepps Classic Willow Leaf Blade fishing lure, Logbook and pen.
