Horseshoe Heights is located just off the Horseshoe Trail at an elevation of 1600 feet.
This cache is located on the Horseshoe Trail, which runs from near here to Vally Forge for a distance of 140 miles. You can find more information about the trail at (visit link)
The cache is located at one of the highest spots on the trail. The cache, shish-K.A.-bob, is along this trail also, about 2 miles to the East.
The shortest route to the cache is from the Stony Creek railroad bed parking at the bottom of the mountain, near Ellendale Forge. The hike is quite strenuous, a climb of about 2.2 miles one way, and approximately a 1100 foot change in elevation. There are several spots along the trail that have tremendous views of the Stony Valley, clear to the Susquehanna River.
We pushed bikes up the trail when placing it, and had a great coast back to the car.
The cache is a green .50 cal. ammobox filled with camping stuff and other trinkets.
