Geocache Description:

The world-famous flagpoles located in downtown Wann. They are very easy to locate if you can find Wann.

In the late 70's, a local radio personality in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, had a regular morning routine where he made up many features and attractions supposedly in Washington County, Oklahoma, and surrounding areas. These included Hogshooter International Airport. Hogshooter is a small unincorporated community of maybe a dozen people. There was also Southern Washington County Domed Stadium (as if there were more than one domed stadium in Washington County). There was the Boomer Schooner which plied the waters of the mighty Caney River. I floated a rubber raft down the Caney once and it grounded quite a few times. And in order to compete with Six Flags Over Texas, there was the famous Six Flagpoles Over Wann, America. Six Flagpoles was mentioned on the air so much, that the residents of Wann actually put up six flagpoles in downtown Wann. Even though it has been over 30 years since the radio personality left town, the six flagpoles and sign are still there. Incidentally, Bartlesville radio has never again been as enjoyable as it was during the late 70's.
