This virtual cache is located within the Superstition Mountains trail system.
Why a virtual cache instead of a regular cache? In our quest to be responsible for the maintenance of this trail, we think it would be counter-productive for us to place regular caches here.
Many years ago, our family "adopted" the Prospector's View Trail. This virtual cache is being placed to encourage people to visit this incredibly scenic area, and to appreciate the beauty of the Superstition Mountains and surrounding Arizona landscape. My dad was a big influence in my great appreciation of the outdoors, so this is really to honor him.
To get credit for this virtual cache, you must take a photo of yourself (or one of your caching party); include your GPS unit - with the Prospector's View trailhead sign - and post the photo when logging your find on the Geo-caching website cache page.
This trailhead is on the west side of the Superstition Mountains. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Lost Dutchman State Park system, but is technically past the fence line separating state from federal land. If entering through Lost Dutchman Park - it is open from sunrise to 10:00 p.m. and the fee is $6.00 per carload. If you are entering from elsewhere, you are on your own. If you want to experience more of the trail system, consider making this a half-day or day hike. And, lastly - if you hike Prospector's View Trail - help us out by "kicking a rock or two" off the path on your way!
