Geocache Description:

Trail to cache starts at the intersection of B8400 and B8450 in Capitol Forest. Trail starts at the quarry (rocks) at 47 02.477N, 123 01.009W - and heads east and uphill. Cache is a third of a mile from the trail beginning at the quarry (go around the stumps that block the old logging trail). The hike is worth it (15 minutes depending on pace) - you will have an awesome view of Eld inlet and the Mudd Bay area.

Access can be from Capitol Forest road - or from the intersection of Maple Valley Rd and Canning Ct. From Maple Valley/Canning Ct follow gravel road directly north to the quarry. If you start from the Maple Valley/Canning Ct intersection, put in the coordinates (47 02.477N, 123 01.009W) of the starting point - it will point you down the gravel road right to the start of the trail. Then use the cache coordinates.

Cache is a black/green painted large plastic nut jar. Contents are a log book and the following:
calculator
Hello Kitty keychain
hand warmers
sewing kit
dinosaur toy
screwdriver
koosh ball
lion key chain

Update 2/26/04. The "trail to the cache" starting at the quarry is now a logging road. DNR has opened the road and rebuilt it since a portion of forest to the north of the road will be logged. Easy, easy hike - you can even drive all the way to the cache site now.
