Hancock Brook Trail Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Barefoot: Amazing how an ammo box with a busted lid still keeps things dry, even after 15 years in the woods. Making room for new hides.
Thanks for stopping by!

The Hancock Brook Trail is part of the Blue Trail system. The trail can be accessed from the parking coordinates or from Spruce Brook Road.

The Sheffield Street Bridge at the parking site is on the national Register of Historic Places. It was manufactured by The Berlin Iron Bridge Co. and was in service from1875 – 1924.

The trail begins along the edge of a working stone quarry (watch out for trucks and pay loaders) and heads north along the river. At the “Turn”, head west up the hill to the ridge top, before heading south again. Coordinates for my favorite view are listed above. The cache can be found a little farther south, about 130ft off the trail, no need to bushwhack till then. Continue on down the trail back to your car, or head west up the hill from N 41 35.004 W 73 02.869 to enjoy another climb and more great views near N 41 36.204 W 73 03.027.

The loop can be done in reverse for a more gradual climb.

Enjoy the hike and the views.

The trails will require caution if Ice and snow are present. The hide itself should be snow friendly.
