Geocache Description:

Red and I have known about this location for something like 20 plus years now and we thought you might like an interesting stop on the drive through the area.

UPDATE:

As of 08-07-10, we have replaced the micro with a small container.

The ground has been cleaned up and ALL the hiding spots for a small or large cache have been removed inside the fence so we went outside but not far.

Robert Louis Stevenson. 1850–1894

Requiem

UNDER the wide and starry sky Dig the grave and let me lie:

Glad did I live and gladly die, And I laid me down with a will. This be the verse you 'grave for me:

Here he lies where he long'd to be; Home is the sailor, home from the sea, And the hunter home from the hill.

Red and I were in the Boise area for our 30th anniversary and we made a special out-of-the-way trip to place this cache.

The youngest member of the Lewis and Clark expedition, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau 1805 - 1866 is buried at this location.

The above poem has the first line engraved upon the tombstone marker placed by the "Lemhi-Shoshone Family Descendants" at this site.

This cache is located at Inskip Station near Danner, Oregon. There is a marker on the highway showing the turnoff of Hwy 95. For those of you following it, this item is also a Lewis and Clark trail item. I know, a long way from the trail but as far as I know, this is the only person from the Lewis and Clark expedition buried in Oregon.

To read more about this man, please look at this page: http://www.pbs.org/lewisandclark/inside/jchar.html

You will be a long way from most people’s regular route so plan accordingly.

The numbers will take you near an old gate to locate this cache.

The cache is right there and please replace it where we did.

Again, We let the gpsr sit and "average" for something like 30 minutes.

Which means we were enjoying the area and just took a long break.

There was also a “letterbox” in this same place. We looked for it but it seems to be missing as of 07-08-06.

It looks like someone has cleaned up the area and snagged a few extra items from the area.

Enjoy the area. Plan accordingly and you can head for Boise or Vale or Silver City from this area for a long weekend.
