PCs of Eight Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Toad: We were in the park today picking up all the caches we hadn't gotten yet, and dropped by to check on this one. Alas, the lookout tree that was the final cache container has finally succumbed to the elements - we had to dig the ammo can out of the rubble. No good way to fix it, so it'll have to be archived - we'll place a new cache soon to make up for it. Thanks to all the intrepid souls who worked the puzzle and found the cache. Team Toad.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the location specified by the above coordinates, if interpreted in the usual fashion. You must correctly reinterpret the numbers in order to arrive at the final coordinates for this cache.

Captain Horatio Toad, of the Amphibious Privateers, hid this treasure somewhere in the eastern suburbs of Henrico County, near Richmond, VA. Captain Toad decided on the general area, but he left the exact placement of the cache up to the ship’s Information Officer, Ensign Technical Toad (the Captain's nephew). Thus, the numbers shown above for degrees, for both latitude and longitude, are perfectly normal – but there’s something a bit strange about the numbers shown for minutes. Your task is to determine what’s different, reinterpret the coordinates according to your findings, and go and find the Captain’s treasure.

Ensign 'Tecchie' also selected most of the booty to be placed in the treasure chest (ammo can), so expect a lot of computer related items – software, media, etc. Please trade similarly-themed stuff, if you can – but if you leave software, please make sure that it’s either freeware/shareware, or that you own it. No pirated software, despite the title of the cache.

One steerage passenger, a stowaway insect known as Travelin’ Toad #10, was marooned along with the treasure. He’d really appreciate being rescued and helped on his way around the world.

The treasure chest also contains an FTF Button for the First Finder, and a signature Team Toad Talisman.

Be warned - the Lords of the Admiralty have decreed that access to the treasure can only be had from dawn to dusk. Also, there may be numerous landlubbers in the area, both shipwrights and tourists, so keep a weather eye.

Bon voyage!
