USFS PERMIT
This is a good cache to tie in with the BASS LAKE VISTA, THE
LOUD ROAR, and the DRY FALLS at BASS LAKE caches as they all start
out at the Bass Lake Trail parking lot on the Echo Trail.
A stylized map of the trail may be picked up at the USFS across
from the International Wolf Center on HWY 169. IT would take 4-6
hours to complete all four caches.
Read the USFS interpretive signs at the beginning of the trail
to understand the great event which took place here in the spring
of 1925.
From the parking lot (N47 56.954 W 091 52.464), follow the trail
to the sign directing you to DRY LAKE. Follow your GPS to the
cache.
In places, the trail can be very rocky, with exposed roots, pine
needles, loose leaves, and wet spots. At times you will follow
cairns across bare ledge rock. Wear shoes with good ankle
support.
The loop around DRY LAKE will take about 2 hours. BRING LIQUIDS
TO DRINK OR A WATER FILTER TO DRINK LAKE WATER.
The cache is a 2 quart thermos.
