Peter Poor is said to be the last settler in New Hampshire killed by Native Americans. To learn more about the history of the entire area, visit (visit link) I’m not going to say too much about how to find it because it’s supposed to be a challenge, but you don’t have to wade across the river to get there. My gps was reading about 20-foot accuracy. The container is a clear plastic jug about eight inches square with a white screw on lid.
Cautionary note: This place is used by teenagers for “parties”. I suggest going during daylight hours.
Additional note: The grave marker has apparently gone missing. Whether this was a case of vandalism or not, I don’t know. There is a picture in the gallery of the marker so that if anyone happens to find it maybe they can put it back.
