This cache is located near the Kootenai River Falls and the Kootenai River Swinging Bridge between Troy and Libby along US Highway 2. The cache is located along a well maintained path.
The Kootenai River Falls is located midway between Troy and Libby along US Highway 2. On your way to this cache you will follow a well groomed path and you will need to cross over a large metal bridge, which has many steps, and crosses over the railroad tracks. If your lucky a train will be passing through as you cross the bridge. There are a lot of nice things to look at while heading to this cache: the river, the falls, the swinging bridge that crosses over the river and the unlimited beautiful scenic views. This cache was originally placed on the other side of the river and you had to cross the swinging bridge to get to it. But, because the area that the cache was placed in is considered an "archeological area", the Forest Service requested that we re-locate it. The cache is now located on the highway side of the river and is much closer to the Kootenai River Falls then it is to the swinging bridge. So be sure to take the time to go over to the swinging bridge and check out the great views from the other side of the river. Don't forget your camera! The trails will get very close to steep edges, so watch small children very closely while in this area. Once you are in the trees the signal will be weak. The container is a clear round plastic container about 12 inches tall and 7 inches in diameter. There are quite a few visitors to this area so please re-cover the cache well.
