Strawberry Lake behind the Marquette County Fairgrounds
Strawberry Lake (pond?) is a trophy trout fishing lake with special regulations. (DNR law enforcement officer are known to frequent this spot.) It's also the picnic area for Sands Township and near excellent blueberry picking. The land was originally owned by the city of Marquette and site of a planned dump. Sands Township fought that with a legal battle and ended up making a land swap, gaining the lake and fairgrounds and giving up land at the site of the current dump on CR 480. Park at N 46 25.713, W 87 25.803 near the picnic table. Cache is a short, easy walk at opposite end of the lake.Cache is a 1-quart camoflauge container. Starting items are 3 hackeysack balls, 1 pirate handbook, giant rubber ant, Door County Century pin, refrigerator magnet, green carabiner, plastic clamp, pink pen and action figure. Room for smaller items only.
