This cache is located at the Avenue of the Saints Lake and Recreation Area west of Waverly, Iowa. It is a standard size cache. Permission was given by the Bremer County Conservation Board to place a cache here. Easiest access to the lake is from EXIT 203 off Highway 218. Then go West to the first street on the south side, turning south. Then follow this winding road around to the park access.
I used to come here after visiting a terminally ill cousin of mine that lived in Waverly. A nice little area to fish, picnic, or just sit on the dock and lose track of time while you think about life. This cache is for you Danny. The Saints Lake area was originally a borrow pit used during the Highway 218 bypass construction. The Bremer County Conservation Board took over management of the area in 1997. The lake was stocked with Bluegill and Catfish in 1996 and with Bass in 1997. You can fish this area year-round, and indeed many ice-fisherman will set up shacks here during the winter months. There is a picnic table with an overhead shelter, a small restroom building, a boat ramp and a walk-out dock, and lots of waterfowl and small animals in the area to watch and enjoy (I even saw a Great Blue Heron when I walked out to place the cache).
The coords for the parking lot are N42*42.407 by W092*32.268. Please park only in the designated parking area and obey all posted park regulations/signs.
The cache container was replaced after coming up mising when the D.O.T. cut down some brush along the highway spillway. I have moved the cache about 20 feet to the new coords listed above. Also, any "found it" logs without a logbook signature will be deleted. I do monitor my caches. Thanks and ENJOY!!!!!
