This offset cache is located in Schützen park with permission of the Schützen Park Gilde. Please respect the site by not disturbing wildlife, plants and artifacts. No bicycles or motorized vehicles are allowed. Visitors are welcome during daylight hours.
The cache is child friendly and doesn’t require that you leave the mulch and gravel trails. The possible exception might be a couple of feet to uncover the cache itself.
Please use the available parking space in the southwest area of the Good Samaritan lot, in the area of: N41° 31.522, W90° 37.515. There are trail maps which include a brief history of the park in the metal box located at N41° 31.515, W90° 37.519.

At the listed coordinates you will arrive at the 1911 Street Car Waiting Station. The Schützen Gilde continues working to preserve this historic site and other historic artifacts in the surrounding woodlands. There are four memorial plaques inside this station, dedicated to the people and organizations that originally funded the preservation of the park. Please read the plaque that lists the TRUSTEES located in the northwest corner of the station and answer the following questions. It’s the most direct method of finding the cache.

The cache is located at N41° 31. A B C, W90° 37. D (A+C-B) E. The cache is a medium sized, clear container that is cleverly hidden. The cache contains a log book, pencil and items to trade.
After you find the cache—or even if you can’t—take some time to explore the trails. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area. With luck you could see several familiar species. There is a picnic area to enjoy and you might want to inspect the construction being done that will further enhance the park. This quiet woodland park, in the heart of a major Iowa city, is truly one of natures fairest spots.
