Geocaching Help Center Article 7.15. Archive or unarchive a geocache

Archiving a geocache is meant to be a permanent action. Only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ can unarchive caches. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if the cache meets the current geocaching guidelines.

If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located not far down the road from the Town Creek Camping grounds in Columbus, MS.

What happens to all the sand and gravel that gets pumped out of the river when the Corps of Engineers dredge it? They can't dump it just anywhere, so they pump it to designated disposal areas. This cache hunt will take you through one of these disposal areas, so know that all the sand and rock you walk over was once sitting at the bottom of the river! Some of this area just borders the Corps of Engineers land boundary, so to ensure that you stay on CoE land, the best place to park is at the parking coordinates below. The distance from parking spot to cache is about 0.8 miles as the crow flies, but it's a little less than a 1.25 mile walk. The trail it is mostly flat and clear.
