Geocache Description:

NOTE! Some kind person replaced the container that had gone missing with a new one. Thanks friend.
This is the second cache I have placed along the Mid-State Trail. This one will require some serious hiking as most of the trail is uphill.

04/2013 NOTE: Be advised the bridge crossing Yellow Creek has been removed and will be rebuilt some time this year. Until it is rebuilt check the MST website for details on where to cross.

The trail starts just off Rt. 36 in Loysburg, PA. You will see a swinging bridge that will cross Yellow Creek and bring you to the trailhead (N40’ 27.721 / W078’ 11.964). Be sure to follow the orange blaze trail markings for the MST. If you do not follow the trial markings you could end up on private property. During hunting season be sure to wear blaze orange as this area is used by hunters often. Double orange blaze indicates a turn. As the trail begins to level off and make a sharp turn to the right be sure to follow your GPS from this point as the trail splits in two directions.

After finding the cache I encourage you to continue your hike up the mountain to the top. There you will find a flag pole with the US Flag flying high and a large wooden cross. From the top you get a beautiful view of the Cove overlooking the mountains and farm lands.

Information regarding the MST:
The Mid State Trail System (MST) is a long distance hiking trail and its side trails in central Pennsylvania. The current northern end is at the West Rim Trail on Bohen Run north of Blackwell and the southern end is a junction with Green Ridge Hiking Trail in Maryland at the Mason-Dixon line. The MST is almost entirely on public land: state forests, game lands and parks. It links or traverses a token roadside rest (Penn DOT), a covered bridge built in 1879, Huntingdon and Broad Top RR grade, two scout camps, two fire towers, three state forest wild areas, five state forests, four state game lands, four state forest picnic areas, eight state parks and eight state forest natural areas, as well as Stone Valley Recreation Area, the Lower Trail, and the Woolrich Factory Outlet Store. The Frankstown to Burnt Cabins Indian Path is crossed and the Great Island Indian Path is followed in part by MST.

Enjoy the hike and hunt!
